My Favourite Quotes

Quotes…you either love them or hate them. I’ve spent enough time in hospital to have quite a few collected up that cluttered brain of mine and some of them have helped me through some really tough times. Below I’ll share with you some of my favourites so that *fingers crossed* they can have the same effect on you and you can tell all that negativity you’ve been carrying round who’s boss. Spoiler alert…it’s you.

  1. “To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow.” – Audrey Hepburn.

I suppose that this quote could be interpreted in many different ways but the way I like to interpret  is this: making plans or having hopes and dreams shows that you believe you have a future (even I you’re struggling to see one at the moment), that you do have good things ahead of you and it won’t always be this way. It shows that you have hope and you’ll get there eventually, no matter how difficult your current circumstances may be.

I love this quote because it helped me see that, even at a time when I was incredibly suicidal and didn’t see a future for myself, these feelings are temporary and there are still things I want to do/see/achieve and there are always good things around the corner.

2)   “There was a time before Earth existed and they’ll be a time afterwards, when nothing any of us ever did will be of any importance anymore; so what can we do besides live each day as it comes?”

Again, you can interpret this in many ways; you could see it as being quite defeatist and doom and gloom or you could also see it as a reason to live your life to the full, do the things that make you happy and be kind to people.

3)   “You’ll worry less what people think of you when you realise how seldom they do.” – Eleanor Roosevelt

My Mum told me this quote when I was little and it’s stayed with me ever since.  People care about you, probably a lot more than you realise, but everyone lives in their own world where they are the centre of their universe. I used to worry a lot about what people thought of me, what they were saying behind my back and this quote helped me realise that people probably aren’t thinking about me much at all – they have their own lives to concern themselves with.

4)  “I don’t know a perfect person. I only know flawed people that are still worth loving.” – John Green.

Everyone is worthy of love, everybody. No matter what you think when you’re in that dark hole I promise you, you deserve happiness and love.  Nobody’s perfect so it’s really not fair to expect yourself to be perfect either.

 5)   “Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times if only one remembers to turn on the light” – Albus Dumbledore

This isn’t just me being a Harry Potter nerd; this really is a great quote. It’s not saying that bad times aren’t going to happen; it’s saying that if you notice the simple things in life you’ll get through even your worst days (someone smiling at you, a compliment, you learnt something really interesting etc)

And remember that so far you have an 100% success rate for getting through bad days and that’s a pretty good record…keep going you’re doing great.

I am aware that this is quite a short post and I do have several other drafts on the go but I’ve had a poop day and I couldn’t concentrate for long so this is all.

To anyone else that also had a bad day I want you to remember what I said before…100% success rate *whoop whoop* and just know that you are lovely, you are loved and I love you. That’s a whole lot of love 🙂

Oodles more love and hugs,

Anna x

        There’s a quote I really love,
‘…and then I fell apart, and it was the most beautiful moment ever, because right then, I realised I could put the pieces back together the way I wanted them to be.’

It makes me realise that I am in charge of my life and can do what I want for it to be a good life. I don’t know, there’s just something nice about it! Hugs to you too xxx
